Welcome to the start of your Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Program at UQ. The information below is a quick reference resource to help you settle into your enrolling unit, the School of Music.

Below is a list of useful sites for you to access. Please be aware that you will only be able to access these sites once you have been formally enrolled. For some sites, such as online training, you will need to wait until you receive a workday Login from HR, which can take up to 3 weeks from commencement.

Building/Lab Access	Gary Johnson is the School Manager and your key contact for matters related to building access, desk allocation, and equipment. After you have been enrolled in your HDR, Gary will contact you to arrange a time for your local induction; you can reach him via email (musicmanager@uq.edu.au) if you have any questions.

Health Safety and Wellness Compliance	For general advice on your project, you should contact your advisory team. Please contact the School’s Health Safety and Wellness Officer if you have any concerns or queries about safety at the school. There is also a UQ-wide website that covers Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
Printer Setup Instructions	See the ITS website for instructions and links to additional support and information.
Seminar Series/Key Events	Information on the School’s research seminar series is available online.
HDR Social Group	The School’s HDR representatives coordinate various opportunities during the year, which are advertised through the HDR mailing list (you will be added to the mailing list after enrolment).
HDR Funding	HDR candidates who have successfully completed confirmation can apply for research support funding (up to $2000 for PhD; up to $1000 for MPhil). See the School of Music HDR Scholarship page for details.
Specialised HDR training	HDR candidates are strongly encouraged to explore the research training opportunities provided by the HASS Faculty’s Centre for Digital Cultures and Societies. See the Faculty of HASS website for upcoming sessions.
