Building/Lab Access | The SVS team will be advised of your pending arrival. New students will be allocated generic access and most buildings do not require swipe card access during the day (except for specific Labs). Afterhours building access is restricted through the swipe card system and can be updated, as needed, via a request to the School Manager (svsschoolmanager@uq.edu.au). The Facilities team process the Sci Pass access requests but only after being authorised to ensure that inductions and requirements are properly assessed before granting access. Desk Allocation | Once your Principal Advisor has discussed with you your project requirements with regard to labs, animals, office space etc, they will approach the School Manager, to allocate a desk space, as required. |

Health Safety and Wellness Compliance | For general advice on your project, you should contact your advisory team. Please contact the School’s Health Safety and Wellness Officer if you have any concerns or queries about safety at the school. For all safety induction requirements, please email the Science team on sciohs@uq.edu.au There is also a UQ-wide website that covers Health and Safety requirements in the workplace. |

Seminar Series/Key Events | You can access all seminars being held at UQ within the coming week, in the broad area of Science. There is also the HDR Gatton Seminar Series, every third Thursday in the month, which is followed by an information and networking session for all HDR students who are based at the Gatton campus. HDR Week also features a day at Gatton, with information sessions and social activities. This is usually in November each year. |

HDR Funding | HDR candidates have access to funding up to $3000/4000/5000 for MPhil, DVClinSc and PhD, respectively over their candidature. How this money is spent should be discussed with your advisory team and then contact svs.finance.advisory@uq.edu.au to access funds. Additional funding will be available and awarded through a competitive process based on merit for each of the three categories: MPhil, DVClinSc, and PhD. The student can apply for the additional funding only when they have completed their Early Candidature Checkpoint (ECC) and Confirmation review (PR1). In any round there will be up to $4000/5000/6000 for MPhil, DVClinSc and PhD, respectively, available. The call for applications will be made in January/February each year. |
Specialised HDR training | Please discuss HSW requirements with your Principal Advisor. Building and lab HSW inductions and checklists need to be completed prior to any research work being undertaken. |
