Building/Lab Access | The IMB Compliance Officer (Emily Graham) will be advised of your pending commencement. Emily will contact you once you have formally commenced.. All building/lab access is via swipe card, using your student ID card. Once you have completed your Safety Inductions, your card will be activated by the IMB Compliance Team. If you have any problems, with card access, please email compliance@imb.uq.edu.au or visit QBP reception. |
Desk Allocation | Please contact your Principal Advisor with regard to desk allocation. You will be seated within your research group. |
Equipment Requests | It is expected that all IMB HDR students will have exclusive access to a computer and workstation. Please contact your Principal Advisor to ensure that this has been organised with the Institutes ITS team (help@imb.uq.edu.au) |
Health Safety and Wellness Compliance | All researchers must complete required online training via Workday and attend an in-person safety induction. These are held fortnightly. You will receive information about this from the Compliance team compliance@imb.uq.edu.au . If you have any general safety issues, please contact the IMB Safety Manager Dr Donna Easton: d.easton@imb.uq.edu.au (QBP, level 4, west) or speak with your Floor Manager. |
Printer Setup instructions | Your printer access will be set up by the compliance team compliance@imb.uq.edu.au |
Seminar Series/Key Events | You can access all seminars being held at UQ within the coming week, in the broad area of Science. The Divisions within IMB also run seminar series, with speakers advertised via email. SIMBA runs an annual Student Symposium and IMB is engaged in a number of activities (both internal and external to UQ) that are listed on the Events page and highlighted in the IMB Update newsletter (received via email). |
HDR Social Group | IMB has a very active Research Student Association, known as SIMBA. They run both social events and information sessions, as well as the IMBar on the rooftop every Friday afternoon. There is also a Peer mentoring scheme for new students, which is supported by SIMBA-you will hear more about this at the IMB induction. |
HDR Funding | Each IMB HDR student has access to an IMB Student development bursary ($2000 for PhD and $1000 for MPhil students). |
Specialised HDR training | IMB runs an HDR training week for first-year students and other sessions as you progress through your degree. Foe more information about these sessions please contact Dr Madhavi (Madi) Maddugoda They also run Question and Answer sessions about key HDR topics. |
