Progression improvement plan
1. Preparing your progression improvement plan
For study completed before Summer Semester 2021/2022:
If you were issued a show cause notice under the provisions of the Academic Progression Procedure (PHP?ID=180, 29.8 KB) in effect before Summer Semester 2021/2022 and you wish to continue your studies, you must respond to your show cause notice by submitting a progression improvement plan to demonstrate why you should be permitted to re-enrol.
For study completed from Summer Semester 2021/2022:
If you have been issued a progression intervention notice under the provisions of the Academic Progression Procedure and you wish to continue your studies, you must submit a progression improvement plan to demonstrate why you should be permitted to re-enrol.
You will be notified via your student email account if you are required to submit a progression improvement plan. You will have 20 business days from the date of the notification to submit a progression improvement plan to re-enrol.
General advice
- Don’t panic
- Submit your progression improvement plan by the due date
- Speak to someone at Student Advocacy and Support or at Student Central for advice. We're here to help.
How to write a progression improvement plan
Include any relevant supporting evidence, for example:
- copies of a medical certificate
- a letter from your counsellor
- a statutory declaration (DOC, 67.5 KB).
Your progression improvement plan must address the following items:
Due date
If you want to continue studying uninterrupted, submit your progression improvement plan by the due date listed on the notification sent to your student email account.
If your progression improvement plan is submitted by the due date, you can continue studying while it is being considered.
If you’ve decided to take an interruption, submit your response by 5 January to re-enrol in Semester 1, or 30 June to re-enrol in Semester 2. After the period of interruption, you will still need to submit a progression improvement plan if you wish to re-enrol, by the due dates stated above.
Important: If you don't submit a progression improvement plan by the due date, your enrolment will be cancelled. If you are in Australia on a Student visa, we are required by law to notify the Department of Home Affairs if a student's enrolment is cancelled.
