2. How much do I have to pay?
2025 and 2026 SSAF amounts
- In 2025, the SSAF is $30 per enrolled unit, with an annual limit of $365.
- In 2026, the SSAF remains $30 per enrolled unit, with an annual limit of $373.
This fee applies to all undergraduate, postgraduate, and HDR students, regardless of their study mode.
SSAF may be charged during any study period, including:
- Semesters (1, 2, and Summer)
- Teaching Periods (1-8)
- Research Quarters (1-4).
Once the SSAF annual limit is reached, no further charges will be applied until the following calendar year. The total SSAF paid will depend on your study load.
Examples of how SSAF is calculated
2025 Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students with a standard full-time study load (generally 4 courses per semester)
Semester 1, 2025: Enrolled in 4 courses (8 units), total SSAF is $240, annual limit remaining is $125.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $60
- Course 4 (2 units) = $60
Semester 2, 2025: Enrolled in 4 courses (8 units), total SSAF is $125, annual limit is reached.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $5 (annual limit reached)
- Course 4 (2 units) = $0
2026 Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students with a standard full-time study load (generally 4 courses per semester)
Semester 1, 2026: Enrolled in 4 courses (8 units), total SSAF is $240, annual limit remaining is $133.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $60
- Course 4 (2 units) = $60
Semester 2, 2026: Enrolled in 4 courses (8 units), total SSAF is $133, annual limit is reached.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $13 (annual limit reached)
- Course 4 (2 units) = $0
2025 Part-time students with an enrolment of less than 75% of the standard full-time study load (generally 3 courses per semester)
Semester 1, 2025: Enrolled in 3 courses (6 units), SSAF total is $180, annual limit remaining is $185.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $60
Semester 2, 2025: Enrolled in 3 courses (6 units), SSAF total is $180, annual limit remaining is $5.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60

Summer Semester, 2025: Enrolled in 2 courses (4 units), SSAF total is $5, annual limit is reached.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $5 (annual limit reached)
- Course 2 (2 units) = $0
2026 Part-time students with an enrolment of less than 75% of the standard full-time study load (generally 3 courses per semester)
Semester 1, 2026: Enrolled in 3 courses (6 units), SSAF total is $180, annual limit remaining is $193.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60
- Course 3 (2 units) = $60
Semester 2, 2026: Enrolled in 3 courses (6 units), SSAF total is $180, annual limit remaining is $13.
- Course 1 (2 units) = $60
- Course 2 (2 units) = $60

Summer Semester, 2026: Enrolled in 2 courses (4 units), SSAF total is $13, annual limit is reached.

Research Quarter 1, 2025: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $245.
Research Quarter 2, 2025: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $125.
Research Quarter 3, 2025: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $5.
Research Quarter 4, 2025: SSAF total is $5, annual limit is reached.
2026 Full-time postgraduate research students
Research Quarter 1, 2026: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $253.
Research Quarter 2, 2026: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $133.
Research Quarter 3, 2026: SSAF total is $120, annual limit remaining is $13.
Research Quarter 4, 2026: SSAF total is $13, annual limit is reached.
