You may be able to apply for a payment extension if you can't pay for your tuition fees or Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) by the census date.

Eligibility

If you're a domestic or international student paying full tuition fees, you can apply for a payment extension.

If you're a Commonwealth-supported student you can't apply for a fee extension.

Fee due dates

Each semester has specific dates for fee due date and census date.

  • Fee due date: all fees must be paid by this date, including tuition fees and the SSAF. Go to the 'Financials' tile in mySI-net to see fee due dates.
  • Census date: tuition fees are non-refundable after the census date.

You can make payments until the census date without your enrolment in courses being cancelled. However, you'll be charged a late payment fee of $100 if your fees aren't paid by the due date.

If you're unable to make payment and finalise your account by the census date, you'll need to apply for a payment extension. Eligible domestic students may also apply for FEE-HELP to defer their tuition fees.

Fee payment extensions

You can request an extension of up to 1 month after the census date to pay your outstanding fees.

In exceptional circumstances, longer extensions may be considered by the Academic Registrar.

    Apply for a payment extension

If you're unable to finalise your payment by the census date, you can apply for a payment extension once the outstanding balance for the semester is available to view in mySI-net.

As part of your application you'll be asked to:

    • provide documentation that demonstrates financial hardship or exceptional circumstances which are preventing you from making payment by the census date
    • propose a revised date by which you can make the payment
    • outline the steps you are taking to make the payment on the revised date.

A $100 late payment fee will still be applied if all of your fees are not paid by the fees due date.
