Whether you're looking at student accommodation close to campus or finding a private rental to live in, here's what you need to know about renting in Queensland.

6. Plan your arrival and move in

When your application is successful, there are a few things you'll need to do before you can move in.

You'll be asked to:

  • sign a tenancy agreement
  • pay a rental bond and advanced rent
  • confirm your move in date
  • pick up the keys
  • complete an entry condition report.

The property should be clean and in good condition when you move in. Before you sign the entry condition report, make sure to inspect the property thoroughly and list out any damage you notice – and remember to take photos for your records. Raise concerns with the property manager if anything is unclean, missing or broken.

After these details are finalised, you're ready to move in to your new home.

Moving in

If you're arriving in Brisbane by plane, we can pick you up from the airport and take you to your accommodation.

Arrange an airport pick up

Moving is a big step, so it's helpful to have a plan. Ask some friends to help you move, or arrange for a removalist if you have a lot to bring.

Make sure you know if furniture is included in your rental, or if you will need to supply your own furniture and whitegoods (such as a fridge and washing machine). You may also need to supply some other common household items, such as:

  • small appliances (like a microwave, kettle and toaster)
  • pillows and bed linens (sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases)
  • towels.

On moving day, it's also helpful to pack some cleaning items and household essentials so you have them on hand.
