Degree certificates, transcripts and documents
3. Testamurs (degree certificates)
Testamurs are issued either at your graduation ceremony, or in absentia.
If you choose not to attend your graduation ceremony, your documents will be posted to the address you have entered into mySI-net.
If your address in mySI-net is out of date, there will be a delay and cost to provide you with replacements.
Documents are mailed in August (mid-year ceremonies), or January (end-of-year ceremonies).
Electronic testamur
From December 2017, all new UQ graduates will receive digitally certified copies of their graduation documents within one week of their ceremony.
If you graduated before December 2017, you can purchase an electronic My eQuals testamur. The cost of an electronic testamur is $50.
Please note: My eQuals testamurs are currently unavailable for Queensland Agricultural College and Mt Eliza graduates. Hard copy testamurs can still be ordered.
Replacement paper testamur
To protect against the fraudulent use of testamurs, we don't reissue paper certificates except when the original has been permanently lost, damaged or destroyed.
If you have changed your name, you can also apply to update your testamur – but you have to return the original.
The cost of a new paper testamur is $120 and it will be issued in the current style. To order a replacement certificate:
- Complete the Request for Replacement Paper Testamur form (PDF, 168.2 KB)
- Complete the statutory declaration on the form
- Upload your documents to the academic records portal and pay $120.
On your form, please ensure you state:
- why you are requesting a replacement testamur (i.e. name change, or why the original certificate was lost or destroyed), and
- your full name when the degree was awarded.
If you cannot state with absolute certainty that your degree has been permanently lost or destroyed, please write:
"Should the original testamur issued to me by The University of Queensland be returned to my possession, I will return the replacement to the University".
