July ceremonies
You are required to have a USI to graduate and attend your ceremony, see USI requirements.
1. Ceremony dates and times
We're excited to announce our graduation ceremonies will be held in July 2024 at the St Lucia campus.
Eligible students will receive an email from 3 June 2024 confirming their July ceremony details.
USI requirements
As of 1 January 2023, all graduating students will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to graduate and receive their award, in addition to the successful completion of academic requirements. Some offshore students may be exempt from providing a USI and will need to provide a USI Exemption to the University by the due date.
Your eligibility to graduate and receive your award is provisional on the following requirements:
- The completion of all academic requirements of your program
- The submission of a USI that can be verified by the University, OR, the submission of a USI Exemption to the University.
If you are unsure, please complete the USI Quiz.
For more information about providing your USI, please visit the USI website.
UQ will endeavour to adhere to the scheduled dates, times, and venues, however, if ceremonies are rescheduled, delayed or relocated, UQ is not responsible for any inconvenience or costs that may be incurred.

Graduating in absentia
If you don’t attend a ceremony, your degree will only be conferred on your graduation day if you have fulfilled the following requirements:
- The completion of all academic requirements of your program
- The submission of a USI that can be verified by the University, OR, the submission of a USI Exemption to the University.
You have the option of attending one of the two ceremony periods immediately after your original graduation date. You can nominate a later graduation period on your Graduation Information Check.
If you aren't attending your graduation ceremony, please ensure your mailing address is correct in mySI-net by Wednesday 26 June 2024 to avoid unnecessary delays and document re-issuing fees.
If you wish to defer your attendance at a graduation ceremony until the December 2024 graduation period, please see ‘Defer your graduation ceremony’ under the ‘Registration’ section.
If you have nominated in a previous Graduation Information Check that you wish to attend a ceremony in July 2024, you will receive further communication to your student email from 3 June 2024.
