China graduation ceremonies
We are pleased to advise that UQ is hosting a graduation ceremony to conferred students in Shanghai China in October 2026.
This special occasion celebrates graduates who have been conferred their degrees and provides an opportunity for graduates to commemorate their achievement alongside family and friends.
The ceremonies will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Shanghai at 2pm and 7pm (local time) on 9 October 2026.
Senior academic and professional staff from the University will attend the ceremony. The event also offers a valuable opportunity to connect with local alumni and build professional networks within the region.
Graduates conferred between December 2025 and July 2026 and whose permanent address is recorded in mySI-net from mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan will automatically receive an invite on 20 July to register from 22 July. You can attend even if you attended a ceremony in St Lucia or Gatton.
The registration fee is $150 and includes:
- 2 guest tickets
- academic regalia hire for the ceremony, with your mortarboard or bonnet to keep
- post-ceremony refreshments for you and your guests
- access to stage and studio photography.
Places at the ceremonies in Shanghai are not guaranteed and will be allocated until the ceremonies are at capacity.
Conferred before December 2025
If your degree was conferred before December 2025 and you would like to attend, you can submit an expression of interest from 22 July.
You will be notified by 29 July if places become available.
