Legislative changes to fees from 1 January 2021
The cost of some programs for domestic students changed in 2021.
Legislative changes affecting fees came into effect from 1 January 2021 for:
- domestic students enrolled in an undergraduate program
- domestic students enrolled in postgraduate coursework with a Commonwealth Supported Place.
Student contribution amounts for some courses increased and were reduced for other courses.
Students who studied in a program prior to 1 January 2021 and remain in that program, will not pay a higher student contribution amount for their study in that program.
If you commenced or changed your program for Semester 1, 2021 you were considered a commencing 2021 student and charged the commencing student rate.
For undergraduate students, this includes all program changes made via QTAC and all program changes made via the ‘program change request’ in mySI-net.
Where the student contribution amount decreased, all students (continuing and commencing in 2021), were charged the decreased 2021 rate.

If you are considering a program change, please seek advice from your Faculty.
