9. Requesting a confidential examination

If your thesis needs legal protection beyond a normal level of confidentiality (for example, because your thesis may be legally sensitive, give rise to a patent, or have contractual obligations), you can require that the examiners sign a confidentiality agreement. Your Principal Advisor can request this by contacting the Graduate School.

Requesting a confidential examination does not automatically embargo your thesis. Make sure you discuss thesis embargo with your advisory team before submission, if that is required.
