Plagiarism is the act of presenting other people's ideas, words or work as your own, without proper credit or acknowledgement.

Plagiarism can be deliberate or unintentional. We take all allegations of plagiarism very seriously.

The University has a number of resources available to help you better understand your obligations and how you can avoid plagiarism:

• UQ Library guide.

​You can also use a reference manager such as Endnote or Zotero to ensure consistent formatting and citation, and to support your bibliography.

iThenticate software

iThenticate is a text-matching tool that allows you to check the originality of your thesis. We encourage you to use iThenticate throughout your candidature, you can use it to check:

• Progress Review documents
• manuscripts for publication
• thesis drafts
• final documents.

You can share your iThenticate originality reports with your principal advisor, so you can identify any issues early on.

It is a requirement of thesis submission that you upload an iThenticate original report along with your thesis via UQ Research Data Manager.
