What to do after you change your password
Now that you’ve changed your password, you may need to re-enter or update it when you use some UQ services.
Students and staff
UQ wifi and eduroam
You will be asked to enter your new password. If you are prompted to reconfigure your network as well, follow the Connecting to wifi instructions.
Browsers and saved passwords
If you have asked your browser to save your password, it will keep using the old password until you manually clear it and update it. Find out how to clear your stored passwords.
Staff only
Staff email
Microsoft Outlook will ask you for your new password. If you are prompted to reconfigure your network as well, follow the instructions for Setting up staff email.
Staff computers
The steps to synchronise your new password on your computer depend on the operating system and your location.
Windows on-campus
- Sign out of your computer.
- Make sure you are connected to UQ wifi or have a network cable plugged in.
- Sign into your computer with your new password.
Windows off-campus
- Sign out of your computer.
- Connect to the VPN.
- Sign into your computer with your new password.
macOS on-campus
- Sign into your computer with your old UQ password if you're not already logged in.
- Follow the instructions to update your UQ password on a UQ Mac computer.
macOS off-campus
- Sign into your computer with your old password if you're not already logged in.
- Connect to the VPN.
- Follow the instructions to update your UQ password on a UQ Mac computer synchronise your new password.
