Reproductive health refers to anything to do with your reproductive system function, including disease or dysfunction related to your reproductive organs.
Your reproductive health needs change over time, so it is important to be informed about your options throughout your life.
Some common reproductive health considerations include:
- menstruation (periods)
- fertility and fertility problems
- pregnancy choices
- urinary, testicular, prostate, vulva/vaginal, and breast pain/concerns
- libido
- Puberty and gender dysmorphia
- hormones
- contraception.
Menstruation (periods)
Menstruation, or having a period, is a normal process of the menstrual cycle involving bleeding from the vagina about once a month. Not all women menstruate, and not all people who menstruate are women.
Menstruation is a different experience for everybody. Period pain or cramps are very common, but if there are any changes in your cycle that you'd like to discuss, see your doctor. Some common menstrual problems include:
- Dysmenorrhoea (excessive pain)
- Endometriosis
- Amenorrhoea (absence of period)
- Premenstrual symptoms
- Late periods
- Vaginismus
There are also a variety of period products that are available and can often be found at your local pharmacy or supermarket. These include:
- sanitary pads
- reusable pads
- tampons
- menstrual cup
- period underwear.

Whether you fall pregnant intentionally or unintentionally, there are a range of support services available for you.
