In some circumstances you may be eligible for a refund of your student fees. This page summarises key information about refunds for international and domestic students.

Domestic students

If you drop a course on, or before, Census Date you can apply for a refund of any upfront payments of:

For year-long courses please make sure you drop the course in both semesters before applying for a refund.

Course fees are not refundable after Census Date – unless you successfully apply to have your financial liability removed.

The Student Services and Amenities Fee is not refundable once incurred.

How to apply for a refund

  1. Complete the Student Fee Refund Request form (PDF).
  2. Deliver a hard-copy form to a Student Centre.

If you prefer, you can email your form to fees@uq.edu.au. Please use your student email.

International students

New students

You may be eligible for a refund if you're a commencing international student and you:

  • withdraw in writing before Census Date,
  • do not commence on the agreed starting date, or
  • have your provisional enrolment cancelled in your first semester (or teaching period) because you did not pay your fees in full.

Cancellation fees may apply.

Continuing students
