If you've failed a course with a grade of 3 – or a non-graded 'N' – you may be eligible for a supplementary assessment.

What is supplementary assessment?

A supplementary assessment is designed to give you a second-chance at achieving a passing grade for a course.

It isn't a repeat of an exam, or a specific assignment – it's designed to test the learning outcomes for the entire course, or specific learning outcomes tailored to you.

Supplementary assessment can take any form (e.g. oral, written, examination etc.) The highest grade you can receive is a 4.

Supplementary assessment isn't available for every course.

When can I apply for supplementary assessment?

Supplementary assessment is only granted in accordance with the rules. Please read:

Once you’ve read the relevant rules and procedures, and if you think you satisfy the eligibility requirements, you can apply for a supplementary assessment.

If you have any questions about supplementary assessment, or if you're unsure whether you qualify, please contact staff in your school office or faculty office.
