Made for Business, Economics and Law (BEL) students, a progression check is a quick way to make sure you understand your program requirements and are on track to graduate. Follow these steps to complete yours with confidence.

Before you start

Before filling anything in, take a moment to check your details in mySI net:

  • Make sure your major(s) are declared (if applicable).
  • Check your expected graduation semester.
  • Update your contact details in case staff need to reach you.

If you change your enrolment after completing a progression check, you’ll need to update it so that it stays accurate.

Step 1: Gather your documents

You’ll need a couple of key documents:

You will also find it helpful to keep the Programs and Courses website open while you work through the sheet.

Step 2: Review your Studies Report

Go through your Studies Report and:

  • cross out any courses you failed, withdrew from or haven’t completed yet
  • take note of any credit or exemptions you’ve received, as these count toward your program
    • Exemption means you don’t have to take that particular course, but you’ll need to complete a replacement course to meet the total units required for your program.

This helps make sure you’re only counting courses that actually apply to your program.

Step 3: Read the progression check sheet carefully

Before ticking anything off, read through the entire progression check sheet, including the notes page.

This is where you’ll find important details about:

  • program rules
  • course restrictions
  • any variations that may apply to you.

Understanding these details early will make completing the form much easier.

Step 4: Complete Page 2 (majors)

On Page 2, tick off:

  • all the courses you’ve successfully completed for your declared major(s), if applicable.

Check that:

  • you’ve successfully completed sufficient courses at each level (e.g. level 1, 2 or 3)
  • the major is available and allowed in your program.

Then transfer these courses to Page 1 where required.

Step 5: Complete Page 1 (program requirements)

Page 1 is where you confirm you’ve met your overall program requirements. On this page you’ll:

  • tick off successfully completed compulsory courses
  • check elective requirements
  • make sure everything fits within the course level rules.

This page gives you the big picture of how close you are to finishing your program.

Step 6: Plan what’s left

Finally, identify:

  • any compulsory, major or elective courses you still need to complete
  • when those courses are offered.

This will help you plan your remaining semesters and avoid surprises later on.
