Most international students who are accepted to study full-time at UQ apply for and come to Australia on a Student visa (subclass 500).

Enrolment requirements for student visa holders

International students on a student visa are required to:

  1. Complete their program within the duration specified on their CoE: From 2023, most programs at UQ cannot be commenced or completed fully online.
  2. Undertake no more than one-third of the entire program by distance or online learning: this is a student visa requirement.
  3. In each compulsory semester or study period, enrol in at least one course that is not by distance or online learning, unless you are in enrolled in the last course in your program.

Complying with visa conditions

As a student visa holder you must also comply with all visa conditions. These may include:

  • maintaining enrolment in a CRICOS-registered program
  • maintaining satisfactory course progress and attendance
  • holding approved Overseas Student Health Cover while you're in Australia
  • telling UQ immediately if you change your Australian address or contact details.
