Update personal or contact details
You can update your legal name, date of birth, preferred name, contact details or gender that you've provided to UQ.
If you're a UQ College student, contact UQ College to update your details.
Updating your title
Log in to mySI-net to update your title:
- Go to 'Personal Details' > 'Title'.
- Enter your new title (or name prefix) from the drop-down options.
Correct your date of birth
If your date of birth (DOB) has been entered incorrectly in your application to UQ, it will display incorrectly on mySI-net.
Log in to the my.UQ dashboard to update your date of birth:
- Go to the 'My requests' tab
- Click on the 'New request' button
- Search for 'Change of Personal Details form'
- Complete the form details and check the box that says 'Correct an error in your date of birth' under the 'Changes and corrections heading'
- Submit the form
Adding or updating your preferred name
If you would prefer to use a name other than your legal name, you can make this change using the Name Details page in mySI-net. You don't need to provide any supporting documents.
At the moment, adding a preferred name to your student record will not update your details in all UQ systems (including Blackboard), which may use your legal name by default. We're working on improving this so that your preferred name can be used unless legal names are required.
We don't automatically update your email after changing your name, as this may impact your account. You can change the 'display name' of your email address, or request to change your email address.
Updating your legal name
If your legal name is incorrect in mySI-net, you can apply to have it updated through the my.UQ dashboard.
When you submit a request, you must provide a scan or photograph of current and original documents that confirm your identity.
We can only change your name to reflect what's shown on appropriate documents. We can't make any other changes.
HELP loans and legal name changes
If you have a HELP loan, your name and date of birth in mySI-net need to match the records held by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
If you change your name in mySI-net, make sure you also notify the ATO through your myGov account or by phone.

You can provide us with a scan or photograph of the following original documents:
