The licence is a 5-year agreement that runs until 1 April 2030. The specific products included in the agreement may change in future releases of VMware Cloud Foundation.
To request a VMware licence and installation, submit an IT request. The request should include:
- what products you want installed
- the total number of physical servers
- the number of physical cores in each computer.
There may be additional information required, depending on the specific product.
There will be a cost for any additional licences as UQ will need to purchase licences to cover your requirements. This will be an annual cost until the agreement ends in 2030, even if your server is decommissioned.
VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation
VMware Fusion Pro for macOS and VMware Workstation Pro for Windows and Linux are now free. Please submit an IT request if you need VMware Fusion or VMware Workstation for a UQ computer.
Home use
VMware Cloud Foundation is for use on UQ computers only – but VMware Fusion Pro and Workstation Pro licences are free and can be used at home. Staff and students can obtain these directly from Broadcom’s website.
Conditions of use
VMware Cloud Foundation products can be used at UQ and the listed affiliates for internal business purposes only.
The details of the agreement with CAUDIT and Broadcom are commercial-in-confidence and cannot be discussed with anyone who is not a UQ employee or third-party contractors.
