Bachelor of Nursing Orientation
Introduction
Join us for a required orientation session where we will welcome you to the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Social Work.
Who should attend
This session is designed for students commencing the Bachelor of Nursing.
What's involved
This session will provide an important introduction to your program and courses, including your timetable and placement advice. You will have the opportunity to meet your course coordinators, lecturers, and other students, raise any questions you may have about starting life at university, and gain tips on how to get the most out of your time at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work while undertaking your Bachelor of Nursing.
This event will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Gain important information about your program (degree), courses (subjects), and supports available at UQ.
- Ask questions
- Meet fellow students
- Engage with your teachers
Placement drop-in sessions
Join our drop-in session to get answers to all your questions about Nursing and Midwifery placements. These sessions will be held on most days of Orientation Week as outlined here.
Patient handling training
All first-year nursing and midwifery students must complete one mandatory patient handling training session and two online e-learning modules before commencing clinical placements. Students will receive an email from the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Education Team with instructions on how to register for a session and details about attendance requirements. About Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences orientation
Orientation is a program of activities designed to introduce you to live and study at UQ.
To ensure you have the information and tools you need to succeed at UQ, you should attend:
- a faculty orientation session
- all program (degree) information sessions that are relevant to your studies
- a placements information session if you'll need to complete placements as part of your program.
