6. Credit for previous study

If you have completed previous study, you may be eligible to receive credit for – or exemption from – certain courses in a UQ program.

Transferring credit between UQ programs

If you're changing from one UQ program to another UQ program you may be eligible to transfer credit between them.

  • I’m using mySI-net to change programs. The option to transfer credit is included in the program change request process in mySI-net. Your application will be automatically assessed.
  • I’m applying to QTAC to change programs. You must complete a Credit or Exemption for Previous Studies form (PDF) and lodge it with your new faculty.
We receive a large volume of credit transfer requests at the beginning of each semester. We urge you to please submit your credit application as early as possible.

Transferring credit from another institution

If you want to apply to transfer credit from a different tertiary institution (i.e. a university or education provider that isn’t UQ), follow the instructions on the Credit for Previous Studies page.

We receive a large volume of credit transfer requests at the beginning of each semester. We urge you to please submit your credit application as early as possible.

Application outcomes

You can check the outcome of your credit transfer application by viewing your studies report in mySI-net.

A notation will be placed on your studies report if your application is successful.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your application, you can appeal to the Associate Dean (Academic) in your faculty.
