6. Transferring credit between UQ programs

If you're changing from one UQ program to another UQ program, you may be eligible to transfer credit or receive exemptions for your previous study.

Academic credit is determined on an individual basis by the relevant faculty or school.

You can use the UQ Credit Precedents Database as a guide when applying for credit. It provides a searchable list of courses that UQ has previously assessed for credit applications.

For advice on academic credit, contact the faculty or school for the program you are seeking credit towards.

Here's how to apply:

  • I’m using mySI-net to change programs. The option to transfer credit is included in the program change request process in mySI-net. Your application will be automatically assessed.
  • I’m applying to QTAC to change programs. Use the online form (login required) to request credit or exemption. For advice on completing the form, watch our video. Once submitted, check your email and my.UQ regularly for updates.

We receive a large volume of credit transfer requests at the beginning of each semester. Please submit your credit application as early as possible.

If you want to apply for credit or exemptions for tertiary study from another institution, use the online form (student login required). For advice on completing the form, watch our video.

Application outcomes

You can check the outcome of your credit transfer application by viewing your Studies Report in mySI-net.

A notation will be placed on your Studies Report if your application is successful.

If you aren't happy with the outcome of your credit application, you can appeal to the Associate Dean (Academic) in your faculty.
