Accessibility and special assistance

Ceremony

If you or your guests have a disability or condition, email graduations@enquire.uq.edu.au at least 2 weeks before your ceremony to discuss possible arrangements. Please note the Graduations Office can't provide equipment hire.

Guests and graduands with a mobility impairment can be set down directly outside the UQ Centre, as this entrance is accessible by wheelchair. Drivers accompanying a guest with a disability should approach the blockade at the base of Union Road and notify the guard that they require access.

Limited accessibility parking bays are available underneath the UQ Centre, where people with a mobility impairment can access the lifts on the lower levels.

Venue doors open approximately 45 minutes before the ceremony start time. Guests who require special assistance in accessing a seat should arrive just before the doors open and see an usher who can help them to a seat.  Please note there is no allocated seating.

Reception

Limited parking bays are available at Campbell Place, near the Great Court, for people with a mobility impairment.

While these areas will be closed to the general public, people who need to park closer to the post-ceremony celebrations are welcome to do so.

Drivers should speak to Traffic Officers, who can grant access.

Please note that there will also be a shuttle bus running from the UQ Centre to Campbell Place, which will provide step-free access to the Great Court.

Public transport

We recommend using public transport when travelling to St Lucia. Parking is extremely limited.

For 6pm ceremonies, make sure public transport is still running after the reception, so you and your guests can get home safely.

Parking

Recommended parking for St Lucia graduation ceremonies is in P10, adjacent to the UQ Centre.

Parking is only permitted in approved zones and fees may apply – you could be fined if you or your guests park in the wrong place.

Some on-campus roads are closed during graduations and parking can be difficult. We recommend planning your journey carefully.
