Anaphylaxis certification

What is anaphylaxis certification?

Pharmacists are required to have knowledge of detecting and treating patients who present with severe or life-threatening allergies when in contact with different allergens in our environment. This includes reactions after administration of vaccines. The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) provide an up-to-date free online course to cover the knowledge required for certification.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) students will require this certification in preparation for placements in the third year of their program, in conjunction with their first aid and CPR certification to be eligible for placements in the fourth year of their program. Cost: Free

Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

Validity: Recommended to take the refresher course annually.

How do I get certified?

Certification process:

Go to ASCIA e-training for pharmacists and create a user account.
Select the course: ASCIA Anaphylaxis e-Training for health professionals full course
Work through the modules 1-7
Complete the assessment in module 8. You require a 100% pass mark to receive the certification.
A certificate will be produced for you to download
Upload this certificate to InPlace in the attribute named Anaphylaxis Certification to be verified by the HMBS Placement Ready Team.
