UQ Guest is a free public wireless internet service for guests supporting UQ activities and events.

Guests can connect to the network by signing in with their Gmail, Facebook or LinkedIn accounts (similar to other free wifi services). The use of a social login method enables UQ to meet legislative and security obligations.  

UQ Guest is available at the following locations:

  • Indooroopilly Mine
  • PACE (Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence)

If you're a student or staff member from another university or institution that uses Eduroam, you should connect to Eduroam at UQ.

  1. Open your device's wireless settings.
  2. Select 'UQ Guest' from the list of available wireless networks.

  3. On the UQ Authenticate page, select one of the social providers to log in.

  4. Follow the social provider's steps to log in and confirm.
  5. Accept the terms and conditions.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Close and reopen your web browser to start using the 'UQ Guest' network.

As part of the authentication process, UQ will collect and store the IP and Mac address of your device, your name and email address. UQ will not disclose this information to a third party except without your agreement, in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and other relevant privacy laws. What is a 'social login' and why do I need to do this?

What if I don't have a social media account that can be used?

The only way to connect to UQ Guest is to use an approved social media account.

What if I can't log in using my social account?

You will need to contact the social account provider for support.

Will I need to enter my username and password each time?

You will need to authenticate each time with a social login account.

As a UQ staff member or student, can I access UQ's IT resources like network drives, printers, etc.?

No, UQ staff and students should connect to eduroam instead.
