4. Your first year
Invest in yourself
Complete your Early Candidature Checkpoint. This must be completed in your first three to six months. Its purpose is to ensure you have completed the required induction activities and are on track for your first Progress Review (Confirmation of Candidature).
As your research and training needs evolve, visit the Career Development Framework (CDF) website to register for training sessions that are of interest to you. Check out sessions for Early Stage candidates. You can view the entire annual program, with registrations open for sessions two months in advance. You can register to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. Make sure you book in early, as places fill fast.
Consider an industry placement. If you and your PA decide on this, it will have to be established in the first 18 months of your candidature.
Set up your personalised Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), which is linked to UQ eSpace and can make your publications easy to find.
