Notification Date:
Monday 24 July 2023Friday 1 September 2023

As of 1 January 2023, the Australian Government requires that all students have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

You must provide a verifiable USI to The University of Queensland (UQ) to meet the conditions of your enrolment.

If you did not provide your USI or it can't be verified by the end of Week 2 of the semester in which you commence course enrolment, you will no longer be able to see your grades or enrol in courses. If you receive Commonwealth financial assistance and your USI can’t be verified by the census date, your enrolment will be cancelled. Students who commenced prior to Semester 2, 2023 and have not yet provided a verifiable USI will be required to do so in the first semester they return to course enrolment and by the deadlines described above.

  • If you do not have a USI, please create a USI and submit it to UQ via the process below as soon as possible.
    1. Log into your mySI-net account using your student credentials.
    2. Go to 'Personal Details'.
    3. Go to 'Unique Student Identifier'.
    4. Enter your USI and save.
  • If you have created a USI but forgotten it, you can retrieve it by visiting find your USI and submitting it to UQ.
  • If you have already submitted your USI via SI-net and it has been verified, you do not need to do anything further.

To ensure your USI can be verified by UQ, it is important your name and date of birth used to apply for your USI match your UQ student record. You will be contacted by UQ if we are unable to verify your USI.

Please read more about the Unique Student Identifier requirements on the USI Registry or contact the Student Central team on 1300 275 870.
