The Neurodivergent Hub Mentoring Program supports neurodivergent students across the range of programs and activities on offer throughout the year.
Neurodivergent Hub Mentees
Most of the Neurodivergent Hub programs involves peer mentoring in either a 1-on-1 or group setting. Neurodivergent students participating in these programs will gain:
Guidance on navigating university, time management, motivation blocks or managing their wellbeing.
Peer support and meaningful connections who will ensure you make the most of your university life
Constructive tips and feedback to support your success in your studies

All other programs, excluding Arts Therapy, in Semester 1 2026 involve either group or 1-on-1 mentoring support.
Neurodivergent Hub Programs are now open for Semester 1 2026 registrations and close on 19 February. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis – we encourage you to apply early!

Mentoring with the Neurodivergent Hub
By sharing your experiences, nurturing peer-to-peer connection and supporting your mentee(s) with their goals, you will be helping neurodivergent students navigate university life and their learning journey. You will support students in either a group or 1-on-1 setting and will be matched according to study area and other demographic factors to ensure both mentor and mentee(s) have a fulfilling experience.
What we are looking for in a Mentor:
Currently enrolled at UQ and have at least one year (two semesters) left in their programs
Students from all study levels and disciplines, i.e. undergraduate, postgraduate, graduate diploma etc
Interested in supporting neurodivergent students in their tertiary education journey
Understands the needs of neurodivergent individuals and possess listening skills, empathy and ability to be adaptive.
Resilient and patient when responding to difficult situations and different ways of thinking, being and doing.
What is expected of you as a Mentor:
Attend the compulsory induction session relevant to your selected program
Commit to attend a minimum of 80% (if not all) of allocated sessions in your preferred program
Submission of regular, succinct reflections
Maintain confidentiality and raise any issues with the Mentor Supervisor
Support UQ neurodivergent student/s to build peer-to-peer connections, develop their skills and provide guidance to achieve set goals/objectives over the course of the selected program
Facilitate discussions and maintain an environment promoting inclusion, connection and belonging
What you will gain as a Mentor:
Work with neurodivergent students to provide support opportunities
Letter of support detailing role and tasks as a Neurodivergent Hub Mentor
Skills development in facilitation, neurodivergent student support, leadership, public speaking and active listening, specifically working with a neurodivergent student cohort
Mentor-only tote bag with limited edition merchandise

Neurodivergent Hub Mentor Opportunities

What is the Neurodivergent Hub?
The Neurodivergent Hub helps students who identify as neurodivergent to adapt to university life and find success at UQ.
The Hub offers programs, event and resources for currently enrolled students at UQ. Students do not need a diagnosis to participate in events or programs.
The Neurodivergent Hub provides support, community building, networking skills and development opportunities for students transitioning into tertiary education for the first time, and throughout their undergraduate studies.
