Neurodivergent Hub Programs

UQ’s Neurodivergent Hub hosts several programs throughout the year to help students get the most out of their studies, networks and university life.

We know that success at university is not just about grades, it is also about making connections and learning more about yourself, uni life and the transition to a fulfilling career.

Join neurodivergent peers in programs consisting of recurring workshops that explore topics important to you. Discuss what works, what doesn’t work and find new strategies to help you make the most of your time at university. You do not need a formal diagnosis or need to submit any documentation to attend.

Our programs are open to all students from all program disciplines and are repeated twice a year (semester-based offerings). For Higher Degree Research Students, it is recommended to register to HDR Focus.

Neurodivergence and Wellbeing

This program is focused on enhancing student wellbeing, habit building and finding your purpose as you navigate university life. It is ideal for neurodivergent students who are more settled at university and wish to explore their personal, emotional and professional wellbeing from a holistic, neuro-affirming approach.

Students who register for this program will be able to build their confidence, resilience and mental clarity to stay aligned to their purpose and wellbeing goals. These are life skills that will support their academic journey and success during university and beyond.

Arts Therapy

A new offering in 2026! The Neurodivergent Hub is offering an art-based therapy program that provides a low-sensory, supportive and non-judgemental space for neurodivergent students to reflect, process and talk through your emotions, inner world and experiences.

This program provides a calming and grounding environment and where students can find new perspectives for challenges that may otherwise seem overwhelming.

This program is offered as group and individual sessions across St Lucia and Gatton campuses. Individual sessions will be available after mid-April 2026.

HDR Focus

A new offering in 2026! This is a pilot program where HDR students can learn from past students, academic staff and receive peer-to-peer support in a way that is relevant to how postgraduate level research is conducted. This program consists of seven two-hour sessions between February – June 2026. These sessions interchange between peer-to-peer support, panel discussions, Q&As with academic staff and dedicated time to focus on research writing. A schedule of the first seven sessions will be available from mid-January 2026.

We are actively gathering feedback from neurodivergent HDR students about their experiences and the kind of support they would like to have to support their research journey and work-life balance. Students do not have to attend all sessions, but feedback is welcome before, during and after sessions.
