The Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) is available from 1 July 2025.
As this is a new program, many aspects are continuing to develop. We'll update this page as new information becomes available.

6. Privacy Collection Notice
UQ is working with the Commonwealth Department of Education to deliver the Commonwealth Prac Payment Program (CPP).
This privacy collection notice explains how we will handle the personal information you provide to us when you apply for the CPP.
Applying for the CPP is voluntary. If you choose not to provide the required personal information, or do not consent to your personal information being used as outlined here, you apply for the CPP.
What personal information will we use?
We will use information provided in your CPP application as well as information the University already has access to. This includes:
- personal program and enrolment details from SI-net
- placement details from the University’s placement management system, InPlace
- placement attendance and completion records
- employment details
- financial information including income, wages, and other support received
- documentation demonstrating your need to work and income levels
- information and documents provided when you applying under Exceptional Circumstances, including any existing documents related to the Student Access Plan submitted with your application
- banking details you provide for payment of the CPP.
How we will use your personal information?
We collect and use your personal information to administer all aspects of the CPP.
Assessing your CPP application
Your information will be used to:
- verify you are a domestic student, and enrolled in an eligible program and course
- confirm your enrolment in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
- assess your income against the CPP threshold during your placement period
- assess any other financial support you may be receiving during the placement
- evaluate any exceptional circumstances that may apply.
Payments
We will check your ongoing enrolment and placement status to process your CPP payments.
Government approvals and reporting
Your personal information will be provided to the Department, to meet our obligations under the CPP Program requirements and relevant legislation. This includes:
- All exceptional circumstances applications, including all the associated personal details and documents. This is a legislative requirement and the University has no discretion in this regard.
- Scheduled government reporting on award, payment and any overpayments.
- We may also be required to provide information on your placement attendance, absences, and approved arrangements to make-up for these absences.
Who we will share your information with?
We will share your personal information with:
- The Commonwealth Department of Education and its contracted parties:
- The information shared with the Department may be used to assess eligibility for CPP for exceptional circumstances applications, administer payments,facilitate audits of our processes and decisions, and contact you for further information to help evaluate the effectiveness of the program (for example, a follow-up survey).
- The department may also share your personal information with:
- other Commonwealth entities for research, statistical analysis, and policy development in relation to the program where use of this information is reasonably necessary.
- providers and State and Territory Governments for the purposes of administration of the CPP Program.
- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other Commonwealth agencies responsible for administering income support payments (for verification purposes)
- Third-party service providers engaged by the University for program administration.
We will not share your personal information with anyone else unless required or authorised to do so by law.
How we store and secure your personal information
We will store and dispose of your personal information securely and in accordance with the University’s Records Management Procedure.
