An approved degree is a Bachelor degree in the discipline of economics, business or commerce; or a Bachelor degree containing at least four courses in any three of the following areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics and mathematics; or the graduate certificate in economics from this university with a GPA of 4.5.

Why study the Master of Economics and Public Policy?
The Master of Economics and Public Policy is an economics-centred, multidisciplinary program, designed to provide students with an opportunity to understand how government intervention affects the economy in an increasingly globalised world. The program focuses on the economic analytical tools needed to design and evaluate public policies. Core courses in public economics and regulatory economics emphasise the rationale for government intervention and the theoretical framework that underpins the nature of such intervention. Elective courses include advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics, applied econometrics and a range of policy oriented courses. The program also provides students with the necessary multidisciplinary approaches to deal with public policy problems, including elective courses in political sciences.

To complete the Master of Economics and Public Policy
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Economics and Public Policy, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
To complete the program, a student must complete 24 units from the MEconPP course list comprising -
- (a) 16 units from Part A of the list; and
- (b) 8 units from Part B of the list.
If exemptions apply for Part A courses, students are to undertake electives from Part B. With Head of School approval, a student may include 2 units for a level 7 course towards Part B. Refer to the MEconPP (24 units) rules for further information.
