Entry requirements

Prerequisites

Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, Mathematics B, plus one of Chemistry or Physics. Both Chemistry and Physics, and Mathematics C are recommended.

Students without Mathematics C and/or another high school prerequisite may be required to undertake preparatory courses beyond the 88 units for the program and may not be able to complete the program in the minimum time frame without overloading or undertaking summer study. Program rules for the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Economics

To complete the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Economics

To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Economics, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

A student is required to obtain 88 units comprising -

  • 36 units from the BEcon course list, comprising -
      (i) 20 units of compulsory courses from Group 1 (not including ECON1050); and
      (ii) 16 units (8 units must be at level 3 and no more than 6 units may be at level 1) for either -
      • one major in Group 2 (6 units must be at level 3); and 4 units from Group 3; or
      • elective courses from Group 3 with no more than 4 units of non-ECON coded courses; and
  • 52 units from the BE (Hons) course list, comprising -
      (i) a major in the chosen field of study; and
      (ii) the balance from BE (Hons) course list.

A mandatory requirement of the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) program is:

  • Completion of 450 hours of Engineering Professional Practice to satisfy the requirements of Engineers Australia.
