Why study the Bachelor of Commerce?
The Bachelor of Commerce program prepares you for a career in accounting, banking, financial management, information systems and management.
Compulsory courses in the degree build a solid foundation of business skills that you will apply to many decisions and issues in the contemporary business environment. These core skills are then further developed in your second and third years as you specialise by undertaking one or two majors. Commerce majors are in accounting, business information systems and finance.
Completion of the Bachelor of Commerce degree with the accounting major, for example, allows students to apply for associate membership of the professional accounting bodies.
The combination of core skills and specialist knowledge learned in the Bachelor of Commerce will ensure you can adapt effectively to the ever-changing business environment and as a result be in high demand with employers.

Program rules for the Bachelor of Commerce
To complete the Bachelor of Commerce
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Commerce, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain 48 units from the BCom List comprising -
- 24 units of compulsory courses from Group 1; and either
- (1) Students who wish to complete a major:
- 12 units from one major in Group 2 (at least 6 units must be from level 3 courses); and
- 12 units of general elective courses from Group 3 or from almost any other undergraduate program in the University as approved by the Executive Dean. No more than 4 units may be from level 1 courses; or
- 24 units from two majors, each comprising 12 units (at least 6 units in each major must be from level 3 courses);
- at least 12 units of elective courses from Group 3 (at least 6 units must be from level 3 courses); and
- up to 12 units of general elective courses from Group 3 or from almost any other undergraduate program in the University as approved by the Executive Dean. No more than 4 units may be from level 1 courses.
(2) Students who do not wish to complete a major:
