Placement preparation module – Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences
You must complete the required placement preparation module before starting your first placement in Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences.
UQ has a duty of care to its students to ensure they are adequately prepared to commence placements. Likewise, as a student, you are required to abide by UQ policies and procedures relevant to your studies including those related to occupational health and safety and fitness to practise.
Before you start your first placement, you must complete:
- 1 placement preparation module, and
- 2 associated assessments that relate to Placement Safety and Managing Occupational Violence and Aggression.
You need to complete the relevant module and assessments in addition to any provider specific training that may be required of you.
What you need to do
Follow the below steps to complete the required preparation module and assessments.
Step 1: Enrol in the course
- Log on to Blackboard Essentials.
Note: This is a different platform from the Blackboard you use for coursework. - Go to ‘Course Catalogue’.

- Search 'HMBS Placement Preparation Modules' and select 'Enrol'.

- Ensure you click 'Submit' to finalise your enrolment.

- If correctly enrolled, you will receive a self-enrolment success message that will allow you to continue to the course.

Step 2: Complete the module and assessments
Note: You must complete Step 1 (Enrol in the course) before accessing the modules in Step 2.
Refer to the table below to ensure that you complete the correct module relevant to your discipline, program or course.

You do not have to upload evidence to InPlace. UQ records when you have passed each assessment with 80% or more.
