Why study the Graduate Diploma in Nursing?
Within the Master of Nursing program, the School of Nursing and Midwifery offers a Graduate Diploma in Nursing. This graduate diploma program is specifically designed for graduates of any Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree to enable them to extend their nursing knowledge and skills in a specialist setting. Students who currently hold a Bachelor of Nursing are able to apply for entry to the Graduate Diploma or Master of Nursing or Master of Nurse Practitioner Studies if all the program requirements are met.
As with the Graduate Certificate in Nursing and Master of Nursing, students will be able to select from five fields of study for specialisation, including Children & Young People's Health, Primary Health Care Nursing, Chronic Disease Management and Palliative Care, Gastroenterological Nursing, Rural & Remote Nursing or use the generic Advance Practice Nursing field tailored to suit the specialist practice setting of the student.

There are 16 units of study in the Graduate Diploma consisting of the courses that make up the Graduate Certificate plus one core course (Education in Nursing and Midwifery Practice), two field-specific courses and one elective course.

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Nursing, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
