Placement courses

Students undertaking the GDipEd(Middle Years of Schooling) must complete 55 days of supervised practicum and 15 days of internship over two semesters and a 5 day community placement.

Students undertaking the GDipEd(Secondary) must complete 75 days of supervised practicum scheduled in two extended blocks (7-8 weeks) - one in each semester of the program.

Effort is made to place students within a reasonable distance of their home but they can be expected to travel up to 90 minutes due to public transport connections and incur costs associated with travel and possible lost income. Students are generally placed in southeast Queensland but are encouraged to consider a rural placement. Rural scholarships are available to assist with travel and accommodation costs.

Students must have a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) before commencing practicum, and can apply for one through The School of Education three months before their practicum.
