Why study the Diploma in Languages?
The Diploma in Languages is a way of value-adding to any bachelors degree. This program will enable you to benefit from the advantages that knowledge of another language can bring in a global economy, as well as earning you an additional academic qualification.
Students enrol in the Diploma in Languages concurrently with enrolment in another University of Queensland program, the "parent" program. Students will complete a program which is equivalent to a major in a language other than English as in the Bachelor of Arts degree. Students may be able to "overload" (enrol in five courses rather than four per semester) to complete both the "parent" program and the Diploma in approximately the time required to complete the "parent" program alone. To avoid overloading, students can also, in many cases, extend their period of enrolment.
Please note that in some cases it will not be possible to complete the requirements for the Diploma in two years of part time study. This is because language majors require sequential study.
