Why study Studies in Religion?
All cultures have wrestled with issues of human existence through religious ideas. The Studies in Religion discipline at the University of Queensland offers a critical, multidisciplinary approach to a range of religious traditions, and is devoted to the scholarly discussion and analysis of the role of religion and spirituality in historical and contemporary settings. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students use interdisciplinary perspectives in studying the major world religions, indigenous belief systems, and new religious movements. Students pursuing a major in Studies in Religion will develop critical thinking, cross-cultural knowledge and understanding, and in-depth knowledge of religious beliefs and practices.
