Why study German?

German is one of the most widely spoken languages on earth, and a major community language in Australia. The German-speaking countries lie at the heart of Europe, and Australia welcomes tens of thousands of tourists from those countries every year. Germany has one of the strongest economies in the world, and is a leader in many areas of technology and culture. German language skills are an asset in many careers, including international relations, international business, tourism, interpreting/translation, teaching and the sciences. Whether you have studied German at high school or never studied it at all, it is possible for you to study German at UQ.
