Course description
First supervised practice experience for MSocWkSt students enrolled in the #32 unit program. Placement of 500 hours duration (running for approximately 18 weeks commencing two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester, four days a week), in a social welfare agency. Focuses on integration of practice experience with course material and companion courses. Semester 1 placement commences on 17 February 2015 and finishes on 19 June 2015. Semester 2 placement commences on 14 July 2015 and finishes on 14 November 2015.Prospective students are advised to contact the Field Education Unit to arrange a pre-placement interview in the month of April of the same year, prior to going on placement in semester 2; and in the month of October of the previous year, prior to going on placement in semester 1. Please refer to the Field Education section on the School of nursing, Midwifery and Social Work website for further information. Departmental consent required for enrolment (please contact the School for permission to enrol). Please note that supplementary assessment is not available for this course. Students who have gained partial credit towards first placement (based on RPL) do not enrol in SWSP7155. Instead, please refer to SWSP7160.
