Course description
This course is designed to provide foundation knowledge for effective mental health practice drawing on areas of knowledge common to most forms of mental health practice. There are no elective learning activities or assessment items. Topics covered include: human development and mental health practice; systems theory and mental health practice; cultural considerations in mental health practice; ethical issues in mental health practice; legislative and policy framework for mental health practice; training and regulation of mental health practice; principles of assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning in mental health practice; prinicples of evidence-based practice.
