Course duration

This is a year long course. It commences in Semester 1, 2016 and completes in Semester 2, 2016.

Course description

This course aims to advance the student in the practice of clinical pharmacy, integrating skills with knowledge to enable the pharmacist to take responsibility for patients' medicines management in the healthcare setting. The limitations of evidence based medicine and its application in the individual patient will be explored. Topics include up to date management of acute and chronic conditions including cardiology, respiratory disease, endocrinology, oncology and geriatrics. This course will offer students a choice of electives focusing on hospital and community pharmaceutical care during the second semester.
