Course description

This course develops knowledge and skills necessary for clinical pharmacists to critically appraise existing research and discusses evaluation and research as they apply to pharmacy practice. The course covers concepts of planning and design of studies, and introduces students to the basics of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies including interviewing and focus group research, survey design and analysis, as well as biostatistics and clinical epidemiology. The relevance of research and evaluation to pharmacists is supported by practical learning tasks linked to clinical practice and the workplace, including drug utilisation evaluation.
