Course description

This course provides students with the opportunity to review the area of paediatric and neonatal resuscitation, emergency stabilisation and preparation for transportation. Knowledge and skills to promptly identify and care for the deteriorating patient will be developed. Students will be required to demonstrate critical thinking when caring for patients outside of the intensive care unit. Within this course students will be encouraged to review hospital processes, team dynamics which support early identification, prevention and management of emergencies. Further, challenges associated with futility and end of life care will be explored.
