Course description

The focus of final year is to develop advanced clinical skills including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Students will also develop evidence based practice skills and beginning leadership skills. The final placement will provide an opportunity for students to continue to consolidate nursing theory and integrate with clinical skills in preparation for graduate practice. Additionally, students will begin to engage in leadership activities including delegation and mentoring of less experienced students. Students will be able to apply these skills to demonstrate how they meet the standards explicit and implicit to the role of the registered nurse. Students undertake 240 hours of clinical placement in order to meet the practice requirements to register as a nurse.
