Course description

The purpose of the course is to explore the range of research methods available for those working within the resources sector in the areas of community relations, environmental management, and health and safety. It will provide an introduction to research methods for resource sector research projects, covering a range of disciplinary approaches. The course provides context and examples of research methods and how these can be used effectively for sustainable development research. It introduces broader topics relevant to the resources sector such as social impact assessment, monitoring of sustainable development, considerations around mine impact management and closure and evaluation of social investment projects.
