Course description
This course is an industry-focussed capstone experience where students will conduct an industry placement and a research project on a question co-created with industry. Students will be co-supervised by a UQ academic supervisor and an industry supervisor. During the first three weeks, students will engage with their industry partner to co-create the research questions for the research project, which will be carried out in semester 1, with emphasis on defining the research issue, establishing methodology, undertaking appropriate analysis of data, and drawing defensible conclusions. In the second semester, students will undertake an industry placement with their industry supervisor. This placement, which is held over a period of up to 13 weeks (400-480 hours), involves continuous, structured industry experience, related to their research project, in a production or service enterprise. It enables the students to apply their theoretical knowledge and research skills developed in their undergraduate program. From 2024 students must complete a research project contract in collaboration with a research supervisor. Student must submit the Research Project Contract by the first Thursday of February for students commencing in semester 1, and the first Thursday of July for students commencing in semester 2 to agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au.
