Course description

An elective course in the Master of Environmental Management program, where students are required to complete a minimum of 270 hours of placement in an organisation external to the University. Students will work with their placement provider to develop and complete a specific project which is both meaningful to the organisation and of sufficient technical content to meet the academic requirements of the course. This project will allow students to gain practical field-related experience while developing and enhancing skills in report writing and project management. Placements for this course are managed through UQ's placement management system, InPlace. Students are responsible for securing their own suitable work placement, subject to Course Coordinator approval. Self-sourced placement applications are submitted through InPlace by the following deadlines: Semester 1: 31 January; Semester 2: 30 June; Summer Semester: 31 October. You can access InPlace via your My.UQ dashboard, or through the My.UQ Manage My Program page. Click 'Staff and Student' on the homepage and log in using your student login details (same as My.UQ login).
