Course description
This course will build on the foundations of the Dental Practice I course (examination of the healthy mouth) and introduce the student to the practice of minimal intervention dentistry. This course will use simulated learning environments including pre-clinical laboratories to provide students the opportunity to attain competency in the clinical skills required to provide preventive dental care and simple dental restorations. Students will also develop their clinical skills in a clinical environment and will begin seeing family and friends as patients in the second semester. The focus is the dental management of healthy adults. Each week, students will have 6hrs of preclinical laboratories, 3hrs of clinical work and 3hrs of observation/assisting in a 3rd, 4th or 5th year student clinic.
